Hiking, walking & cycling

Over 350 kilometers of hiking trails lead through the region around Bad Gastein. Shaped by nature, amazing phenomena such as the Lichtensteinklamm gorge, Reedsee lake or the largest ice cave in the world are waiting to be explored. From tours to the largest grass mountain in Europe, the Gamskarkogel, to guided hikes organized by the tourism association and leisurely alpaca hikes – the Gastein Valley satisfies every kind of wanderlust. Our reception team will be happy to help you choose your individual route.

Do you prefer quiet walks? Then we recommend taking part in the regular historical walk through Bad Gastein. Under expert guidance, you can follow in the footsteps of the town's history.

Whitewater rafting

Experience the longest and most adventurous rafting tour in Salzburger Land. Together with a certified boat guide, the two-hour rafting tour begins on the Salzach. The route leads through the picturesque landscape between Taxenbach and Schwarzach. At the end, there is a small celebration with a "rafter snack" (grilled sausage) and a certificate.

Discover the 18-hole course at the Gastein Golf Club. Other golf courses, such as at Mondsee in Goldegg or in St. Johann, can be easily reached by car. Small, charming and yet great fun – all this is offered by a round of mini golf in Bad Gastein or Bad Hofgastein. Do you prefer a tennis match? From extensive options for your day on the slopes to idyllic cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs and ice climbing opportunities to your husky adventure, the possibilities are almost endless.

Bad Gastein
Skiing fun

The Sportgastein ski area offers fun on the slopes at an altitude of up to 2,650 meters. In Bad Gastein you have direct access to two ski areas: Stubnerkogel and Graukogel. Both can be reached by regular ski or public bus, the bus stop (Wasserfall) is in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. We are happy to help with information on the bus timetable or with booking a cab. We do not offer a shuttle to the ski area.

For those who prefer to enjoy the winter wonderland in peace and quiet, the cross-country ski trails in Bad Gastein, Dorfgastein, Hofgastein and Böstein offer ideal conditions for short or long tours.

Winter hiking

Numerous winter hiking trails also invite you to discover the landscape without skis. A special treat is the summit breakfast in Sportgastein. After a guided hike and gondola ride, you can start the day in a romantic way.

Tobogganing

Ready for the thrill of speed? Take off from either the Bellevue Alm or the Schlossalm (natural toboggan run "Aeroplan") on two runners for a speedy ride through the snow-covered Alpine landscape.

Husky experience

A special kind of sleigh ride awaits you in Sportgastein. Instead of horses or reindeer, huskies are harnessed to the sled. Experience the magic of winter on a dog sled ride through the snow-covered forests of the surrounding area.
